Building Quality & Functionable Websites

A Web Designer and Web Developer, also known as Web Builders. The difference of the two is narrowed down to the tools they use to complete a task, and of course the knowledge it takes to do each task. You think an architect that designs your house will know how to build your house? Even though a Web Designer and a Web Developer usaully can do both tasks, it takes many years to be able to do them both effectivly. A designer will use programs like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator to create their designs to where a developer may use programs such as Adobe Brackets, Adobe Dreamweaver to write the code to bring the design to life.

How do we develop websites?

Basic HTML5 Website

Developing a website is not just typing words into Microsoft Word, we utilize programming languages such as HTML5, JQuery, CSS3, PHP, JavaScript or a front-end frameworks such as Bootstrap to showcase text, images, colors or any other element you see in web browsers on the world wide web. Each one of these programming languages serves a specific function in creating a basic HTML website. Once the coding is finished each page will then be validated by a W3C standard, the standard will let you know if your code has any issues. The validation tools we use on each of our web pages will include W3C HTML Validator, W3C CSS3 Validator, Google Page Speed Insight, GTMetrix and many other validation tools to help tweak Search Engine Optimization. Also, be sure to submit your site to the major search engines such as Google and Bing / (Yahoo). A basic HTML Website is not the only type of website we offer here, the other type is a content management system known as "WordPress".

Content Management System

A content management system (CMS) is a computer application that supports the creation and modification of digital content. It typically supports multiple users in a user friendly environment. CMS features will vary, based on the functionality needed for your website. Most CMSs include Web-based publishing, format management, history editing and version control, indexing, search, and retrieval. By their nature, content management systems support the separation of content and presentation. Based on market share statistics, the most popular content management system is WordPress, used by over 28% of all websites on the internet, and by 59% of all websites using a known content management system. Other popular content management systems include Joomla and Drupal.

WordPress website's will use plugins to help with the functionality. These plugins will have free versions that will offer a minimum functionality and then they will offer a pro version that will give you the opportunity to use 100% of the plugins ability.

A WordPress website will give any user the ability to log into a user-friendly dashboard, take control and change certain information that is set specifically for that user. The adminastrator will set this criteria for each user. Read more about WordPress here.
